September 8-14 is a big week and we’re celebrating two national recognition events!
First, it’s Direct Support Professional Recognition Week. The Arc of North Carolina is proud to celebrate amazing Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in our state and all around the country.
They are the heart and soul of everything we do to support people with disabilities to access and participate in our communities. DSPs are critical to the individuals and families who count on them. Many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities need daily, physical assistance. Take some time and thank a DSP!
And it’s Disability Voting Rights Week. Tuesday, November 5th is Election Day. Voters will elect a new U.S. President and Vice-President and in North Carolina, a new Governor and Lieutenant Governor are going to be elected. There are also several politicians running for elected offices across our state.
When we vote, we choose who will represent the disability community. The people we vote for will decide how important programs for people with disabilities work.
Your vote helps decide who is elected to help build better services, programs, and inclusion for people with disabilities. Their decisions can affect your lives. Your vote matters!
