2018 Conference Request for Presentations

Great things happen when people come together in person to share ideas, interact, and learn. The Arc of North Carolina is pleased to partner with self-advocates from the Triad to present two days of keynotes, breakout sessions and social events designed for the professional community to empower and engage people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in North Carolina.

The 2018 Rooted in Advocacy (RIA) conference includes two days of sessions and events designed to strengthen the bonds between all who encounter and support people with intellectual or developmental disabilities in their lives: educators, attorneys, caregivers, direct support staff, chapters, families, and self-advocates.

We are looking for engaging presenters and content for Friday, March 23rd, our one-day professional conference sessions for all who interact with or engage with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their work. This includes educators or school system personnel, attorneys, Guardian ad Litems, direct support professionals, as well as our chapter staff across the state. Family members are also welcome and encouraged to attend these sessions.

Session Title. If your proposal is accepted, the title of the presentation will determine if people elect to attend. Please choose a title that accurately describes your presentation. Use no more than eight words.

Session Description. The proposal description should be one succinct paragraph containing no more than 100 words. Please use third-person in describing the session, and be as specific as you can about what people in the audience will experience, do, or learn. Should your proposal be chosen, this is the paragraph that will be used in the printed conference program. You can add additional detail in the session plan and format of the submission form.
